An oxfordshire thames wedding

THE COTSWOLDS AND BEYOND!

Although I am predominantly a Cotswolds photographer, I do regularly cover weddings further afield.  Often this means braving the A40 and travelling to historical Oxford and even further!

VOCO OXFORD THAMES – WATER MAKES ME HAPPY

Matt and Nikki chose the Voco Oxford Thames to celebrate their wedding.  Last time I photographed a wedding there it was Winter so it was a welcome treat to photograph their celebration at the height of Summer.  And what a summer it was! Choosing to wed in the smallest, most atmospheric Church in Oxfordshire in nearby Sandford-on-Thames (in my opinion)  I have to say it was a welcome reprieve from the searing sunshine; it was perfect.

Nikki was able to walk through the field from the Voco to the Church which was so lovely and gave her those precious few moments with her parents and Bridesmaids before walking down the aisle.

Church weddings are beautiful but it is always advisable to check with your Vicar what is and isn’t allowed as more often than not, photographers and videographers must stay at the rear.  This is pretty normal procedure and still makes for beautiful images but it’s something to bear in mind before the day.

LET’S CELEBRATE

A short walk back after the Ceremony to the Voco. Everyone was ready for a cold drink by now and celebrations were getting under way.  Nikki and Matt had arranged for their fur baby to attend for some pictures.  I was in love.  The most beautiful little Dachshund trotted over to see her mummy and daddy my heart melted.  I was in heaven!

The confetti was arranged to make the most of the beautiful flower arch overlooking the river.  Champagne was served from a vintage car which looked fab.  The weather allowed for a relaxed approach to photographing which meant I had time to capture lots of actions shots….which obviously included the dog too!

The wedding reception was held in a gloriously bright room with ceiling lights.  The magnificent table decorations really showcased the enormity of this room.  Led by the toastmaster (provided by the venue) we were led in to speeches.  These were great.  Very funny, honest and candid.  I even shed a tear.

PARTY TIME AND SOUR BALLS

The evening celebrations did not disappoint and I think nearly every guest was on the dancefloor at one point.  If they weren’t dancing they were sampling the sweet cart which had a very tempting offering.  One of the jars held a jar of sweets purchased at the special request of the groom….super sour balls… and judging by the look on his face they certainly were!
